The Homicide of Drexel Swayzer and Jamie Williams - SOLVED

On September 1, 2007 after 4:00a.m. a gray Isuzu Rodeo was discovered near the T&T Barge Company landing engulfed in flames.  After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of two men were discovered inside.  Both men had been fatally shot and their bodies severely burned beyond visual recognition.  The men were later identified as Drexel Swayzer of Annette St.  and his nephew, Jamie Williams of Lanier Dr. in Baton Rouge.

West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Detectives know that the two men were at a popular night spot on Greenwell Springs Rd around Greenway Billiard hall sometime around midnight.  Swayzer and Williams left that area and traveled around the Prescott / Winbourne area.  Between the hours of 2a.m. and 4a.m. they were ambushed and shot while in the vehicle and then driven to Port Allen where the vehicle was burned.

Detectives know at least three persons are involved in this heinous crime and are currently working with State Police Crime Lab on video surveillance footage that may identify all vehicles involved.
